This open-pit copper mine has been in production since 1906 and is owned by Kennecott Utah Copper as of 2008. It is located in the Oquirrh Mountains near Salt Lake City, Utah. The pit over 0.75 mile, or 1.2 km deep, 2.5 miles or 4 km wide, and covering 1,900 acres or 7.7 square km.
